In
many ways, Romanticism (see attachment) was a reaction against the scientific
mindset associated with the Age of Reason. The Romantics thought that the
imagination and appreciation for beauty provided better insight than
rationality. (Note: “primitivism” refers to the anti-science or
anti-progress impulse we have discussed, which can be seen in “The
Rhodora” and “The Birth-Mark,” plus Poe’s poem “Sonnet to
Science,” which is on p. 633.)
Analyze
the following literary work “The Tell-Tale Heart”—using specific textual
examples/quotes to illustrate and explore this anti-science, pro- imagination
impulse. Next, relate your observations to some specific example from the
modern world. Your response should be well-developed (400-600 words).
